We've Got Plumbing

I drove by around lunch time today to check on the progress and see if they've FINALLY started the plumbing. We were previously told that they would be doing this today but it seems they've completed ALL of the other houses they started the same time as ours so I figured they would probably get to us sooner - NOT! Anywho on my way there I saw a concrete truck and in extreme optimism, I just knew that truck was on it's way to pour my slab. Well wouldn't you know I turned off into the neighborhood and it kept going :-( Nevertheless I saw they had started the plumbing and was actually nearly done for this stage in the process. I shared a few quick words with the plumber and he told me how he thought my 2-story house was going to be beautiful. Well I hope is right. Also I see that they recently put the "sold" sign on the lot. Pics below...

Breaking Ground!

Yes, that's right, we had our pre-construction meeting just yesterday and today they broke ground! After riding by the area almost everyday for weeks, we're glad things have been set into motion. They're adamant about completing our house by December. To my understanding, breaking ground is basically just putting up the concrete barriers of where the concrete foundation will be poured (pics below). Next they will assemble the underground plumbing which has to be approved by the City and then next week things will really start to kick up a notch once that portion has been completed. Not much else to report on for today.

Preconstruction Meeting

After numerous emails, phone calls, and prayers we finally scheduled our preconstruction meeting!! Lawd I didn't think this day would ever come! We met with Cheryl, our sales rep and Geoff, our project manager around 2:00pm and finished around 3:45pm. They walked us through our floorplan and our RiteRug and Guardian options. They also showed us the blueprints which we couldn't keep because of some "proprietary" rule but they were pretty cool to look at. They pretty much had everything documented correctly. The only problem I foresee is the sink location in the upstairs secondary bathroom. In the model it is centered in the counter top but on the blueprint it is on the left of the counter top. Geoff could not confirm if he would be able to center it so we are waiting to hear back from him; hopefully with good news. We also wanted to add two cable outlets but they wouldn't let us do it, stating that there shouldn't be any changes at this point. I don't see what the big deal is. I was actually quite surprised they said no but we'll try to catch the Guardian rep when he's on site to see if we can work something out. After the meeting we drove over to our lot #332 and surprisingly they had already carved out the footprint to our house (pics below). Basically there was an outline in the dirt of where our foundation will be. Looks good but I was surprised to see that big ass drain in front of the house. It was on the land survey but once I saw it in person, I was like whoa. Im sure once the house is up, I won't pay it any mind. My childhood home had one in front and it didn't impact us one way or another. Anyway, our home is 1 of 5 that they are building in the new phase of our neighborhood and is set for completion between the middle or end of December 2015, just 3 months away!
